Mrs. Glenda Hawkinson is a school librarian with Lewis-Palmer School District #38 since 2004 at Lewis-Palmer Middle School and currently at Palmer Ridge High School, which opened fall of 2008. She served on the Palmer Ridge core planning team for two years prior to the schools inception and was privileged to assist with the planning and design of the PRHS Knowledge Center.
With 27 years of K-12 teaching experience, including twelve years as an Instrumental and Vocal Music Instructor and fifteen years as a Educational Media Specialist, Glenda has an excellent background in school curriculum and essential resources necessary to improve school achievement.
Active in school, district, state and national professional organizations and committees, Glenda is a member of the Colorado School Library Leaders (CoSLL), chaired the Colorado Association of Libraries annual conference, served on the CASL (Colorado Association of School Libraries) Board of Directors and is a member of the Colorado Association of Libraries along with the American Association of School Libraries (AASL). Glenda has presented on the state and national level at various conferences through the years. She is currently serving on the board of the Colorado Highly Effective School Libraries program through the Colorado Department of Education and the State Library.
She was born and raised in North Dakota and began her teaching career after receiving her BA in Music Education from Minot State University (formerly Minot State College). Mrs. Hawkinson attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota at Mankato, Minnesota (formerly Mankato State University) where she received her Educational Media Specialist degree and MA in Music Education.
